Preparing your Submission for the Tourism Awards: Tips from our team of experts.
In this workshop, we will be joined by experts in Responsible Tourism and Marketing as well as current Award Judges to assist with Tourism Award submission writing.
• Angela Breeding from the Department for Environment and Water unpack Responsible Tourism to demonstrate how being a responsible tourism business goes beyond minimising impact on the environment.
• Steve Davis from Talked About Marketing, will delve into the marketing requirements of award submissions, focussing on clear communication of the target marketing elements and how storytelling can communicate the compelling points of difference each operation brings to the marketplace. He will also provide advice on how to make use of submission content to support ongoing marketing efforts.
• Judges’ intel: Tourism Award judges will share insights about the things they love and loath about award submissions.

Responsible Tourism: Angela Breeding, Nature-based Tourism Project Officer, National Parks & Wildlife Service, Department for Environment and Water.
With an extensive background in interpretation, communication and environment education, Angela is responsible for guiding the creation of authentic and engaging visitor experiences in national parks, and assisting tourism businesses to do the same.
Marketing: Steve Davis, Principle, Creative Director, Talked About Marketing.
Throughout his 20+ years as a marketing communication consultant and creative director, Steve has drawn on his background in radio, journalism, and theatre, to create content that gets his clients "talked about". During this time, he has also delivered workshops to thousands of businesses, been a keynote speaker, and, in 2013 he started The Adelaide Show podcast. Steve believes all businesses are sitting on goldmines of potential content and his role is to help you unlock those valuable marketing.
Judges’ Intel:
Paul Mason has over 20 years’ experience in Tourism and Hospitality working in a number of senior executive roles at the Adelaide Casino, Hyatt Regency Adelaide and InterContinental Adelaide.
Lisa Ellison started her career in motorsport with Super Tourers (now V8 Supercars) here in Adelaide, which took her to England to work in Formula 3 and Formula BMW. On her returning to South Australia, Lisa has worked at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank for the last fourteen years, managing relationships between customers and the bank, including local businesses and national sporting teams.
